Tide Does Well on First Night of NFL Draft

Four, not five, Tiders went in last night’s first round:

3. Cleveland Browns – Trent Richardson.  The Browns take Richardson despite a heaping dose of meh from the world’s greatest human running back, Jim Brown.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Mark Barron.  Rumor has it that Barron even smiled a little last night.

17. Cincinnati Bengals – Dre Kirkpatrick.  This could be a match made in er, uh, someplace besides Heaven.

25. New England Patriots – Dont’a Hightower.  Bill Belichick gets a Tider in the first round after flirting with Mark Ingram last year.

Of course, that leaves out Courtney Upshaw.  I was expecting the Jets to take him at No. 16, but when that didn’t happen, he fell all the way out of the first round.  I feel bad for him since he traveled to New York City for the show and didn’t have his name called last night, but whoever gets him in round two gets a beast.  Upshaw will play a long time in the League.
