Heading into week six with a 40-8 record…

1) Tennessee 24, Florida 14 – The free continues for the Gators.

2) Georgia 37, Vandy 14 – Todd Gurley rushes for as many as Mark Richt will let him have in this one.

3) South Carolina 28, Kentucky 10 – Let’s see how the Gamecocks rebound from last week’s stunning loss.

4) Alabama 32, Ole Miss 21 – If Blake Sims is really healthy, the Tide rolls.

5) Auburn 31, LSU 20 – Auburn’s offense starts to get their mojo back in this one.

6) Texas A&M 33, Mississippi State 24 – Too much offense from the Aggies in this one.

Week 5 Review

9272014 ScoreboardA 6-1 week brings the total to 40-8…

1) Georgia 35, Tennessee 32 [Prediction: Georgia 27, Tennessee 24] – UT allowed a career game from Todd Gurley and shot itself in the foot late.

2) Kentucky 17, Vanderbilt 7 [Kentucky 31, Vanderbilt 28] – This must have been a fun game to watch.

3) Missouri 21, South Carolina 20 [South Carolina 35, Missouri 31] – The Gamecocks are dead in the East and we have a new favorite atop the leader board.

4) Texas A&M 35, Arkansas 28 [Texas A&M 42, Arkansas 24] – The Aggies score two touchdowns late to set up overtime and then pull out the win.

5) Auburn 45, Louisiana Tech 17 [Auburn 45, Louisiana Tech 24] – This game also sound brutal to watch, right?

6) LSU 63, New Mexico State 7 [LSU 48, New Mexico State 6] – What better way to rebound from a loss to Mississippi State than to play an out of conference patsy.

7) Ole Miss 24, Memphis 3 [Ole Miss 37, Memphis 17] – Perhaps the Rebel Black Bears were looking ahead to Bama.

 

Week 5 Picks

We head into the bye week with a 34-7 record…

1) Georgia 27, Tennessee 24 – The Vols had an off week to lick their wounds following their loss to Oklahoma.  We’ll see if it pays dividends.

2) Kentucky 31, Vanderbilt 28 – This should be a hard-fought contest as wins will be few and far between for these two teams.

3) South Carolina 35, Missouri 31 – The Gamecocks aren’t impressing anyone and that includes their coach.  But the ‘Cocks may just struggle their way all the way to Atlanta this year.

4) Texas A&M 42, Arkansas 24 – The Hogs are improved and their run game will slow the Aggies, but not not enough to pull out a win.

5) Auburn 45, Louisiana Tech 24 – The Tigers rebound from a close call at K-State with an easy win over the Bulldogs.

6) LSU 48, New Mexico State 6 – What better way to rebound from a loss to Mississippi State than to play an out of conference patsy?

7) Ole Miss 37, Memphis 17 – The Rebel Black Bears tune up for Alabama with an easy win over the Tigers.

 

Week 4 Review

We’re 34-7 after four weeks…

1) Alabama 42, Florida 21 [Prediction: Alabama 20, Florida 10]

  • Pre-game: “Both teams will face the best defenses they’ve seen all season.”
  • Post-game: Uh, well, only one could actually say that and that team’s defense gave up a school-record amount of offense.

2) Georgia 66, Troy 0 [Georgia 45, Troy 17]

  • Pre-game: “The Dawgs look to rebound with a win over struggling Troy.”
  • Post-game: Yawn.

3) Indiana 31, Missouri 27 [Missouri 49, Indiana 34]

  • Pre-game: “The Tigers win a shootout.”
  • Post-game:  Not so fast, my friend.

4) South Carolina 48, Vanderbilt 34 [South Carolina 31, Vanderbilt 14]

  • Pre-game: “No hangover for the ‘Cocks; they suffered their’s in week one.”
  • Post-game:  The Gamecocks pulled away late for their third win.

5) Arkansas 52, Northern Illinois 14 [Arkansas 35, Northern Illinois 24]

  • Pre-game: “You do not want to play Northern Illinois in a non-conference game.”
  • Post-game:  But if you do, it feels good to beat them.

6) Auburn 20, Kansas State 14 [Auburn 37, Kansas State 25]

  • Pre-game: “The Wildcats don’t have enough horses to hang with Auburn.”
  • Post-game:  Wrong.  K-State hung tough and kept Auburn’s run game in check.

7) Mississippi State 34, LSU 29 [LSU 27, Mississippi State 17]

  • Pre-game: “The SEC West starts to sort itself out.”
  • Post-game:  Big upset number two of the SEC season as the West does indeed start to sort itself out.

  • Pre-game: “The Aggies beat their third Texas opponent in a row.”
  • Post-game: Yawn, part two.

It’s already week four and we head into it with a 28-5 record…

Week three brought a 10-1 slate to bring the overall record to 28-5…

1) Florida 36, Kentucky 30 [Prediction: Florida 41, Kentucky 10]

  • Pre-game: “Is the Florida offense really better?  We’ll start to find out against the Wildcats.”
  • Post-game:  Close one for the Gators.

2) South Carolina 38, Georgia 31 [Prediction: Georgia 27, South Carolina 21]

  • Pre-game: “The Dawgs were the darling of the college football world after they pounded Clemson.  The love fest will continue after beating the Gamecocks.”
  • Post-game: Great game, unless you’re a Dawg fan.

3) Missouri 38, UCF 10 [Prediction: Missouri 31, UCF 28]

  • Pre-game: “This is a tough out-of-conference game for the Tigers.  They’ll struggle against George O’Leary’s team, but will find a way to win.”
  • Post-game:

4) Oklahoma 34, Tennessee 10 [Prediction: Oklahoma 42, Tennessee 23]

  • Pre-game: “Big Game Bob wants another piece of the SEC and he’ll take a big bite of the Big Orange.”
  • Post-game:  B.G.B. continues his SEC run.

5) Vanderbilt 34, Massachusetts 31 [Prediction: Vanderbilt 7, Massachusetts 6]

  • Pre-game: “I’m guessing tickets are still available for this one.”
  • Post-game:  Wow.  Vandy scored 34 points.

  • Pre-game: “Expect a lot more offense from the Tide as the quarterback duel continues.”
  • Post-game: Meh.

  • Pre-game: “I’m stepping out here and calling the Hogs to get by the Red Raiders.”
  • Post-game: Pretty good step out as the Hogs grind up Tech.

8) LSU 31, Louisiana-Monroe 0 [Prediction: LSU 44, Louisiana-Monroe 13]

  • Pre-game: “Another easy win before the Tigers step into conference play next week.”
  • Post-game:The Tigers add a shut out on their way to conference play.

9) Mississippi State 35, South Alabama 3 [Prediction: Mississippi State 38, South Alabama 20]

  • Pre-game: “I can’t believe the Dogs are playing in Mobile.”
  • Post-game: Yawn.

We take an overall record of 18-4 into a better slate of games for week three…
