Upshaw and the Goody Bag

Coach John Harbaugh cuts quickly to Courtney Upshaw’s issue:

“He’s working really hard, [but] Courtney’s weight issue – which he does need to lose some pounds – is that he doesn’t eat right,” Harbaugh told the Carroll County Times. “Courtney eats too much, and he doesn’t eat all the right foods. He knows that’s something that he’s going to have to get a handle on or he’s not going to be the best he can be. He’s aware of it. We have everybody in our building involved in it. He’ll be in fighting shape. I promise you that.”

Hey, a lot of us have been there.

That’s a good mix of rebuke and encouragement by Harbaugh.  Let’s hope Upshaw can get with the program and not eat his way over to playing beside Mount Cody.

Upshaw Back in the News

Good to know we have something in common with Courtney Upshaw:

I’ve got to drop a couple pounds and get ready for the season,” Upshaw said. “My offseason has been kind of hectic. I had a personal issue where I had to handle that. Right now, I’m trying to get back into football shape. I was back and forth between Alabama and Baltimore, just real personal issues that I had to handle. Just trying to drop a couple pounds and get ready for the season.”

Me thinks this isn’t good news for Upshaw and once again highlights the trouble some players have moving from the discipline of Nick Saban’s system to the wide open NFL.

Upshaw: “We had that dominating look.”

Music to my ears:

Forget about Courtney Upshaw looking into the faces of Auburn players in the fourth quarter Saturday and seeing a different look.

“I’m sure they saw the look in my eyes and the rest of my teammates’ eyes,” Alabama’s senior outside linebacker said. “We had that dominating look.”
