Bama Fans in Krystal: Get a Life

I’m sure by now you’ve heard of the “incident” at Krystals on Bourbon Street following Alabama’s win in the BCS championship game versus LSU.

If not, here’s the short version:  following Alabama’s win, several Alabama fans had some “fun” with a passed out LSU fan, all within the confines of a fast-food restaurant near the end of Bourbon Street.  One particular Alabama fan used this situation to place his genitalia on the passed out man’s face/neck and perform simulated sex thereupon.  Oh, this was also after sticking one finger in the passed out man’s nose and one in his ear.

Here’s a thought for all of you Alabama fans in that restaurant that night:  you are disgusting and you are an embarrassment to Alabama fans everywhere.  You need to grow up and you need to get a life – a life that includes more than just Alabama football.  That not only includes the “man” performing the act on the passed out LSU fan, but also all of the other Bama fans in the restaurant at the time.

Did no one have the courage to step up and do the right thing?  Why didn’t someone punch Mr. Genitalia right in the face?

I like to think that I’m a huge Alabama football fan.  As my wife would vouch, I can as obnoxious and crude as the next guy.  But at the end of the day, this is just a game.  Winning – or losing – doesn’t make you any better or worse than the next guy.  That certainly wasn’t the only passed-out-drunk fan in the Quarter that night, but for all the folks in the restaurant knew, he could have been dying – or dead.  Where’s the concern for another human being?  If you can watch or participate in all of that, you need to not only find another team to root for – you need to get a life.
